I am originally from Houston, Texas. I received my BA in Pedagogy and English at Houston Baptist University and taught high school English for five years. Around this time the Lord planted a desire in me to study the Bible. I also grew more and more passionate about children’s ministry. I regularly volunteered at a para-church children’s ministry in Southwest Houston and was the volunteer Children’s Ministry Director at my home church. It was during my time of service there that I felt God calling me to full-time children’s ministry. In 2009, I moved to Dallas to receive ministry training at Dallas Theological Seminary. In September of that year I became the new children’s minister at EPCC. It has been a blessing and privilege to be a part of what God is doing here at this local body in Mesquite, Texas.
I manage and oversee the weekly children’s programs at EPCC, plan yearly events like Vacation Bible School, church camp, and the Easter hunt, and train/support the children’s ministry volunteers.
I grew up in a home where we respected God and the Bible and regularly attended church services. Yet, it was at the age of 12 when I made the decision to make Jesus Christ my Lord and my Savior. My walk with the Lord was rather inconsistent for several years afterwards, but in my early twenties I was discipled and mentored by a godly woman who challenged me to take my relationship with the Lord more seriously. Through her influence I grew exponentially in my spiritual life. The Bible became my delight and my love for Jesus gave my life meaning. The Scripture passage that best describes my journey with God is found in Psalm 73:25-26:
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And the earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.
